It started with a gift for a sister; given how long I’ve been buying her presents, the well of ideas was running dry. She leads a busy life with her husband and three girls in ever-sunny Florida. She owns any book worth owning, cookbooks included. She drinks inordinate amounts of coffee and holds her Kindle closer than her phone.
After hours spent combing the vast trove of goods online, I found it. It was an impossibly small book, hand-bound using reclaimed materials, which was crafted by a husband and wife studio in Philadelphia, Peg and Awl. They began by making goods for themselves, using found materials which had been discarded or neglected, and re-purposing them into keepsakes and long-lasting treasures. They now make them for everyone to enjoy.
I like to think it was the perfect gift. I believe my sister would agree.
We’re excited that we’ll be carrying goods from Peg and Awl both in store and online. Given the history my family now has with their products, it was only fitting they be one of our very first inventory orders.
